Title: Test event October 10th 2010
Post by: ziggy12345 on September 21, 2010, 11:23:10 am
Hi

I would like to do a test to see how cars run on the drag surface. I have arranged a test event on Sunday October 10th so if anybody would like to come down let me know.

I hope to have the rocket rebuilt by then along with the IC open car and the small block car. I have run my cars along the strip before and they were OK. There is a meeting the week before so the track would have been preped with VHT.

This will solve some of the safety concerns we have as the public and other competitors will be behind the barriers.

Cheers

There is a Drivers Dreamday booked for the 9th but they normally cancel at the last minute. Me and Kevin will be there on the Saturday afternoon and sooner if DDD cancels

Cheers

Tony I'm here at the moment at no sign of DD but I have just been informed that the Under 17s Car Club have booked an extra event this Sunday 10th October (un beknown to me) so you won't be able to use the top of the drag strip. Saturday will be okay! Sorry about that. Secretaries!!! ;D

Not a bad day today. Kev and Alan had a selection of dragsters with varying results. My small block car lost the side belt and I dint have a spare.Kevs 2 cell flipped in the high wind. Gene managed around 78mph again and what the hell happened to the weather??

Anyway the timing gear was further apart than before and worked faultlessly all day after a few glitches at the start.

We are thinking of running drag racing at the next speed event. It will be the full 132ft racing just like in the USA and Australia. Get your cars prepared

Cheers

Just like to say thanks again for the test event, very pleased with car and managed to take it home in one peice, not like last time, a million pieces .
I have been informed that Lesro models who help me out a great deal are going to form a 4 man team to have good crack at the speed records next year.[200mph i think they said].

Nic Case will be running his car on Jan 16th at the Ford Arizona test track. He is pretty confident that he will get 200mph or more. In the mean time I am continuing to prepare my rocket car and will be testing it in Jan or March, depending on weather. The planned speed is 180-200 and 220mph in stages. Also on the horizon is Brett Smith who is building a new turbine car with planned speeds of over 200mph and another team in the UK are building a twin turbine car for 200mph plus. These are only the ones I know about.

It looks like its going to seriously kick off in 2011 and ROSSA will be at the very heart of it all

Cheers
