UK RC Car Speed Championships 2009
« on: October 11, 2008, 07:55:06 pm »

Well I started early for next year. I am looking at 2 practice events before the main event. I was thinking of April 12th for the 1st then the 2nd on a sunday in July. The main event will be in September but Jeremy has to check the calendar and make sure we dont clash with a drag event.

I have been told that all the rubble from behind the wall will be moved so we have a nice same place to pit.

Cheers

May I suggest puttin the pit area behid the start line behind the wall so the cars are racing away from theassembled competitors. And have some kind of disclaimer that says to stand down track is dangerous and doing so is done entirely at own risk.

I am discussing the site layout with the guys at the strip and the best way to ensure the saftery of the competitors and spectators without loosing the ability to see the cars at high speeds.

I have some tentative dates from Jeremy

1st practise event. April 12th (Easter Sunday!!) Is that good or bad?

2nd practice event. July 5th

Main event. September 26/27th for a 2 day event or 1 day depending on entries

Practice events will be run when you are ready with the main event being 3 x 5 min slots

Easter Sunday? If you want the track to yourself, that's good. If you want it as a productive practice, I'd say that's bad.

Anytime we've had events on holidays attendance has been miserable.

We ran a very open schedule at Rockingham with no assigned times and it worked out well....absolutely no problems as far as I know. Everybody got in line and took one run. When Nic or I wanted to go we let Billy know and everyone else knew that we were in line and when we finally got fired up we could go. The 3x5 system would have been disasterous for me with some of the problems I had and trying to juggle two cars. If an open schedule works for practice, why won't it work for the events?

Everybody who enters is guarenteed 3 x 5 min slots. This is to ensure everybody gets the same track time and has enough time on the track to tune and adjust cars for the fastest run. After everybody has completed their slots the remaining time, if any, is run when you want. The exact event format will be published ahead of the event so that everybody knows what to expect

Right, now we're into the thick of planning things at the track what dates are we going for?

I have provisionally listed:

Sunday April 25th (Test Day)

Sunday June 21st (Test Day)

Sept 12th/13th (Championship Weekend)

or
Sept 26th/27th (Championship Weekend)

I could do with knowing asap as other full size car clubs and activities are enquiring about hiring the drag strip/runway.

I just looked at my leave for 2009 and I am working on Sunday 26th April and also on Sunday 21st June but here for 26th and 27th of September. Is any of the following dates available for test days?

April 5th
May 17th, 24th 31st
June 7th, 14th

July 26th
August 2nd

Either that or you can hold the test days on the original dates but I wont be there
